theoremEd is a math tutor. This explains everything it does with your
information, in plain terms.
What theoremEd reads
When you press Look at screen, theoremEd takes a picture of the browser
tab you are looking at. That is the only time it reads anything.
It does not read other tabs. It does not read anything while you are not
asking it to. It does not run any code inside the pages you visit, and it does
not watch what you browse.
Where that picture goes
The picture is sent to theoremEd's server, which passes it to Anthropic's
Claude API to produce the tutoring reply, and sends the reply back to you.
theoremEd does not store your screenshots. Anthropic's handling of API
requests is covered by their privacy policy at
https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
The two most recent pictures stay in the conversation while you work, so
follow-up questions make sense. Older ones are replaced with a note. Closing
the panel or pressing New problem ends the conversation.
What is stored
On your computer: your access code, and whether you have been shown
theoremEd's one-time setup prompts. That is all.
On theoremEd's server: a count of how many questions each access code has
asked, and what they cost, so usage limits can be enforced. This is not linked
to a name, an email address, or anything that identifies you.
What theoremEd never does
- Sell or share your information with anyone
- Show advertising
- Track you across websites
- Read your browsing history
- Ask for your name, email, or any account
Students under 13
theoremEd does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone,
including children under 13. It has no accounts and asks for no personal
details.
Permissions, and why
- activeTab — to see the one tab you asked about, when you ask
- storage — to remember your access code on your own computer
- sidePanel — theoremEd's interface is a side panel
- access to websites — asked for the first time you press Look at screen, and used only to take that picture. Homework lives on sites that cannot be listed in advance, so the permission covers any site; it is used only when you press the button.
You can withdraw it at any time: right-click the theoremEd icon, choose
Manage extension, and change Site access.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
